Blind spot

Blind spot

A blind spot refers to the area not covered by mirrors. Relying solely on mirrors, cameras, or detectors without personal visual assessment may lead to accidents. To check the blind spot, turn your head and look over your shoulder, ensuring safety before manoeuvring. Blind spot checks are essential when moving off, stopping, turning into a side road, navigating junctions and roundabouts, and merging or changing lanes on motorways.

Awareness of being in another driver’s blind spot is crucial, especially around larger vehicles like HGVs. Maintaining a safe distance and observing their indicators can prevent potential accidents. Why not practice turning your head while stationary to integrate this into your regular observation routine for safe driving.
